Cystic Fibrosis

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic disease that affects the lungs, pancreas, digestive system, and other parts of the body. CF causes mucus, which is supposed to be slippery, to become thick and sticky. Blockages and infections can happen when the mucus builds up in the organs. People with CF have problems with breathing and digestion.
Symptoms
Symptoms of CF include salty-tasting skin, persistent coughing/wheezing, nasal polyps, frequent lung or sinus infections, greasy stools, and poor weight gain/growth.
Treatment
There is currently no cure for CF, but there are various treatments that can help. Treatments for CF include medicines such as antibiotics, breathing support, and surgery.
